Brian Froud

While in Bangor last weekend I got the chance to visit their local Borders, where I got myself a coupleof books by Brian Froud. Absolutely amazing artist, oh wow. I got myself a copy of The Goblins of Labyrinth and The World of the Dark Crystal. If you guys ever see this book, BUY IT. Absolutely stunning.

The artwork is so loose and unique. It's so inspiring. And muppets! Who can resist muppets?
So, yeah. Definately check out Brian Froud's work if you have the chance.

Update!

Well that screencap was badly done... Oh well. Anyways, so I was lucky enough I guess to get to do a caricature at the office of someone retiring... I'm pretty happy with it so far, it's not completely done yet... And the fact that I actually colored it in photoshop!? Amazing!

Honestly nothing much has been going on. In two weeks I'll be in sunny California working my butt off at Gen Con So Cal... And after that it's going to be Christmas... And after that, it's going to be wedding the entire way. I can't wait though, it's like my little project! :>

I'm probably going to try to update this as much as possible.
In the meantime, check this out!

Better than a tablet!

Going to Cali-for-niaaaaah

Hola everyone!
So I finally got breathing room now to sit down and relax. Kind of. Atleast until 2 o' clock! My weeks have been pretty busy, and are bound to get even busier. Wenesday night was Sandy's finals in the ball hockey tournament, they ended up third place (out of four, ha) and now on Thursday nights I play Dreamblade, which is awsome cool! It's a miniatures game that plays a bit like chess, it's all about controlling the board, but it really is wicked fun, only maybe four-five people in Saint-John play it right now... but it's getting bigger. I managed to get some Magic players' girlfriends playing too. Everyone's addicted!

And now starting next week it'll be Sandy playing ball hockey three to four times a week, us joining the gym, us playing Dreamblade on Thursdays, Friday Night Magic/Dreamblade on Fridays, hopefully have free weekends (ha) and yeah. It's gonna get busier. And at work it's getting pretty busy as well, unfortunately, as much as I know I could help, I can't, since my job depends too much on other people doing their job on time. I still love it though, I actually do like working in advertising. Something to think about later on.

Anyways. I am going to GenCon So Cal. Asked my bosses they said no problem! So a free trip to California, and a total geekfest. I think I should start preparing now. Sandy and I leave November 19th and will be back the 21rst. Oooh... man... I can't wait!

Also, wedding date is going to change. Apparently, the Diosis (sp?) of Moncton for the Catholic church does not allow for Saturday weddings after 11:00AM, so Sandy and I having half the relatives living in Saint-John this is a bit bad. We're going to have it on a Friday... in October... but getting the reception site and church booked at the same time is horrible. I thought we were ahead of time booking it a year and three months ahead of time, but I guess not. I should have guessed though. Oh well. I'll be hearing wedding bells one day.

Bah... that's about it for now. I've been totally addicted to watching Battlestar Galactica (the new one, never seen the old one). Seriously guys, CHECK IT OUT. It's amazing. Sandy and I are going through withdrawl right now because season 2.5 is only coming out later this month, and season 3 not for another year or so. It's sci-fi, but they make it right! Seriously. It's good. Check it out.

GEN CON!

So. I might just be going to GEN CON SO CAL.
One of THE biggest geek fests out there (actually, the third biggest), right in Anaheim, and I might be able to go for FREE. Fanbases for absolutely EVERYTHING. Holy shit on a stick! Sandy was going no matter what, on judging duties, but his boss over there actually suggested that I come along and help as well. It wouldn't be like a paid vacation, because I am going to be a volunteer there, but who cares?! Now the only thing that might make things difficult is the fact that I would need to take three days off from work, but hopefully they'll understand. Being engaged with a super geek does have its advantages :P

Nothing much else to say really... besides PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!!!

OH MAN LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND ON THE FORUMS FAQ!!

"I still don't understand why you can't bring in Bruce Campbell. You really need to get him!Preaching to the choir! We love Bruce and have tried on many occasions to bring him to Gen Con Indy and So Cal. It's usually the case that he is just too busy, but we try. Oh, do we ever try!!!"

IF BRUCE CAMPBELL IS THERE I WILL HAVE A HEART ATTACK.

UPDATE! by the order of Shanel!

Why hello to the world! I am alive.

I'm... at work at the moment, but go go actual lunch breaks. Plus I get to play with the nice mac I have here. So sweet! I want one. Anyways. I'm enjoying my job, and it has been renamed to Flyer Process Manager, thankyouverymuch! Plus some translating and graphics on the side. I'm still settling in, but I'm enjoying this place. Just hope you guys never, ever go through the lean process. It's funny, I wouldn't be able to explain it, but I am very much aware that it's, aah.... huh... something.

ANYWAYS! Wedding date is October 5th.
Not many details have been decided, but the ceremony will be in Grande-Dique, the reception in Cocagne. Um... I already chose my dress. I'd post it here but the quality of the one on the website sucks, plus I want it to be a surprise. I love this, it's like my little project! I'm trying not to go overboard. Gah! It's like decorating a cake. You don't really want to wait for the cake to cool down before putting on the frosting.

WELL besides that. I've only drawn on bits and pieces of paper, so no drawings. Maybe this weekend. Soon I'll be able to buy a scanner! OOOOh! Ok. I go now!

I GOT IT!

Guess who got the job at Irving??
I FINALLY have a freakin' job! I'm working as a proof reader for now, I have to go over all the flyers before they go out (it's alot more than proof reading let me assure you) and they told me I would also be slowly working into graphic design, so, there.

*sigh of relief*

Sketch post 2

Sketch dump! I need a scanner really bad, because taking pictures of drawings just doesn't work. Again, don't mind the crappy quality. I can only do so much! On the bright side, atleast I'm drawing. BE THANKFULL.

How I misss my computer, and my high speed. Today I hooked in my computer and it was beautiful. My music! My pictures! Oooo! I need to dabble more in photoshop and flash too.

Kingom Hearts II

So I just finished Kindgom Hearts II. What an awsome game. Ah man. I was going through it like there was no tomorrow, I put in atleast 30 hours this week alone, and had to leave the PS2 on for atleast three days, but wow. And go go Squaresoft and Disney, totally leaving room for a Kindgom Hearts III.

Well I don't have much to say. So for now, ta-ta!

Mina love! and I guess a drawing too...

I haven't really been drawing much, just half finished doodles that aren't going anywheres. But atleast I finished one! I haven't drawn and shaded anything since, oh, Art Fundamentals I believe.

Um, the quality is really, REALLY bad. I took a picture with the camera, that's why. I don't have a scanner so a camera will have to do for now. Don't you hate it though, when the paper gets slightly humid, and when you draw it's all light and has that gross feeling? MmHmm. I need some 2B pencils. In a box... somewheres...

And now, a picture of Mina! You guys so knew it was coming.

Interview, baby!

I GOT THE INTERVIEW! Yipee!

Sketch + lettars

Well, atleast I have a sketch! I'm scanner-less. I had to go over to Sandy' sister's house to scan my stuff, which honestly isn't a big deal since it's maybe a five minute drive up the road.

Anyways. I sent in my test to Humigade. Um, it was pretty rushed and I was reaaaaaaally rusty, so I'm not overly confident. The test was basically draw a character in four/five different styles. Actually, that sketch in the corner there was the main sketch that I got my character from. So yeh.

I'm still being dependent and it SUCKS.

BTW, my standard skillz aR going way up, y0!

That's about it.
Ta-ta!

The Cruise Experience

Hola!
I'm back, from the sunny Carribbean! Wow, I'm really glad to be back. I love travelling and I actually did enjoy the trip, but being so close to the same people for five days straight really gets on my nerves. BUT. Now I'm at Sandy's house, lounging around. No job yet, although Humigade sent me a test last week. Woo!

OMG. There's a job title called "Entrepenerd". Wicked.

Well, the cruise was great. I mean, all you can eat food 24 hours a day, the best strawberry daiquiri and singapore sling I've ever, ever had, and, oh god. The. Best. Sushi. Ever. I swear. I also ate squid (little teeny weeny little purple ones!) and escargot and anchovies. Mm. But, hey, it was all free. They also had the hugest dessert table, like, you wouldn't believe. Man, you'd think I'd be like, 180lbs now, but now, I actually lost some weight on the cruise. Ha!

So our two stops were at Grand Cayman and Kazumel (no idea if I spelled that correctly) We did alot of shopping in Kazumel, along with visiting a small Mayan temple, which was pretty wicked. But in Grand Cayman we got to swim with stingrays! The huge two-metre long ones! We got to swim with them, along with feeding and getting a lovely back massage from them. It was amazing. Then we did some sornkeling at a small reef, that was awsome too. Alas, it went by too fast. It's hard to believe I was on a boat for five days. I still feel a bit wobbly even today. Oh. And my flying experience was great. Hee! Feels just like an elevator.

Anyways. time to go! No drawings today, since I'm on Sandy's computer, but wait in a week or so when I'm finally settled in.

Sketch post 1

Soooo, yeah. I'm not really new to the blogging scene, but I'm not exactly used to posting up my drawings on a constant basis. I'll see how long this will last. But for now, here's a random sketch page.

wicka wicka word up foo'.
